Thought-provoking and insightful. Thank you for sharing. As to literature, I can I hardly imagine making sense of it without its' cultural context but often we have to teach it that way.
Indeed. Always greatful for a markscheme that at least acknowledges attention to context. Although blind practical criticism is fun, and has its own value in a linguistic/stylistic sense.
Thank you SO much for taking the time to read it. I was also glad to be able to finally link to your 'Awareness'. Had the idea weeks ago but kept being distracted from getting down to this particular post.
It's such a joy reading a new Artemisia article!! The level of information and depth of knowledge is absolutely insane. This is a Masterclass. No, art cannot live in a vacuum and now more than ever we need artistic expression. This substack is one. ❤️ Thank you!
This is a explorative article - teaching me the complexities of art —- I may not have an arts degree or understand every detail - and that’s okay, I am learning now and I value this work :-)
I'm looking forward to reading this series of articles. I like that your approach is more personal and thoughtful. It gives me the space to observe my own reactions. I also like your choice of images. The one with various observers surrounding "a war" made me pause for a long while. Anyway, I love art and I love literature, so I know I'm going to enjoy your writing very much.
Dear Conny, this fills my heart with joy! Thank you so much for taking the time to read and comment. Publishing the 'next' one always feels like that moment when you take in a deep breath in before diving off a cliff (something I'd obviously never be brave enough to do!) It always feels like it just won't happen, or if it does, it won't flow, etc and then the ideas and images come to mind somehow I manage to finish it off.
It's lovely to have met you here, I also enjoy your writing ☺️
Such a great article! I'm impatient to read next ones. In all his shapes, art surround our ways of life.
Thank you so much for reading it, it means a lot. 🙏🏼🪷
What a lovely meditation on these encounters!! I'm so glad we "met"!
Thank you! The feeling is mutual :)

I can tell I'm going to be thinking on this for awhile. I've already read it three times. Thank you, Artemisia. So we'll researched and written. 😊

I cannot wait for the other episodes. But of course, the wait will be a pleasure. 💕
